Dunkwu surged to the top of the NCAA Division I goal-scoring leader board by completing a natural hat trick during Howard’s season opener at MAAC member Monmouth. After the host Hawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, Dunkwu scored the next three goals of the match. The senior forward put the Bison on the scoreboard by converting off a pass from Jackson Lewis in the 39th minute. Dunkwu allowed Howard to take a 2-1 lead into the break thanks to an unassisted tally in the 43rd minute. He tickled the twine for the third time in the 60th minute of the eventual 3-3 draw. Three days later, Dunkwu helped Howard to a second straight result on the road, starting a 1-1 draw at George Washington.
