Mattison turned in a masterful start against second-place Central Connecticut. Going the distance in a 4-2 victory, Mattison blanked the Blue Devils for the first 7.2 frames until a two-out eighth-inning single ended his shutout bid. He held CCSU to six hits, including five singles. Mattison registered 12 strikeouts while issuing two free passes. He retired the first nine batters of the game in succession. The 6-foot-4 righty logged five 1-2-3 innings.
