Chestnut ran all over an opposing defense for the second week in a row. After piling up 209 yards from scrimmage in the opener at Duquesne, Chestnut carried 24 times for 203 yards and four scores in a 35-7 home win over LIU. The powerful runner added 46 yards on a pair of receptions, single-handedly out-gaining the opposition during the Week 2 matchup on Campus Field. Scoring on a play that began in SHU territory for the second straight game, Chestnut busted through numerous would-be tacklers on a 69-yard touchdown run that gave the Pioneers a 21-0 lead with 3:25 remaining in the second quarter. Chestnut proceeded to cap Sacred Heart’s first two second-half possession with rushing touchdowns. His 19-yard scoring scamper (plus the ensuing PAT) boosted the SHU lead to 35-0 with 3:42 left in the third period. Chestnut is averaging 8.1 yards per rush attempt and has scored eight touchdowns over his first two games.
