Elder looked nothing like a young rookie during his collegiate debut against Bryant. The freshman defensive back contributed six tackles and two pass break-ups to a defensive effort that lifted LIU to its first win since elevating to the Division I level. Elder and his fellow Sharks limited Bryant’s offense to a measly 3.5 yards per pass attempt in a 24-19 victory. Both of Elder’s pass break-ups came with LIU protecting a five-point lead in the fourth quarter. The 6-foot freshman was active during Bryant’s first possession of the final quarter. After assisting on a tackle for a seven-yard loss, Elder knocked down a second-down pass attempt and Bryant punted two snaps later from midfield.
