LaMay baffled Brown hitters for much of Friday’s start in Winston-Salem, NC. The veteran right-hander, who pitched to an 0.43 WHIP, blanked the Bears for 6.1 innings until a solo homer ended his shutout bid. Recording the 2-1 victory, LaMay totaled 7.0 frames while allowing only three hits and one run. He walked no one and retired 14 batters in a row at one point. After a two-out double in the second inning, LaMay held the opposition hitless over the next 4.2 frames. He set down the side in order during the third, fourth, fifth and sixth frames.
