Starting the first half of Merrimack’s Saturday double-header sweep, Sorensen delivered 8.0 innings of one-run ball to earn a victory over Big Ten member Michigan State. The veteran right-hander scattered eight hits and permitted only one earned run while going deeper into the game than any NEC starter last week. Finishing strong, Sorenson allowed only one hit (a two-out infield single) over his final 4.0 frames. The 6-foot-2 righty fanned six Spartans while walking two during the 3-1 triumph.
