Haba’s collegiate career is off to a hot start. The rookie infielder opened the season by hitting safely in all four games at Oral Roberts, pacing the circuit with a .429 batting average. Haba recorded at least one hit and scored one run in each of his first three collegiate starts, including both halves of Merrimack’s doubleheader sweep Saturday. He accounted for three of the team’s seven base knocks during Friday’s series opener, a 2-1 setback. Haba reached base twice in the first half of Saturday’s double dip and crossed the plate with the tying run during the eighth inning of the 6-5 triumph. The Massachusetts product recorded one hit, one walk and one run in the nightcap, a 4-0 win for the Mack. He singled up the middle in his first at-bat of Sunday’s series finale.
