WEEK 12 Stats: 6 points, 2 field goals (45, 50)
Samperi was on the kicking end of three pivotal first-half plays, including a pair of long field goals, during Bryant’s 20-16 home win over NEC rival Duquesne. The third-year Bulldog accounted for his team’s first six points. He opened the game’s scoring by nailing a 45-yard field goal 2:47 into the first quarter. Samperi broke a 3-3 tie by blasting a 50-yarder through the uprights 1:35 into the second quarter. It was the longest field goal converted by a NEC kicker this season. On the ensuing kickoff, Samperi caught the Dukes with a successful onsides attempt that was recovered at the opponent’s 44-yard line. He bid for a third field goal late in the fourth quarter, but the 44-yard insurance attempt was partially blocked.
