Resendes’ place-kicking perfection and effective punting helped lift Merrimack to a 30-21 road win over MEAC member Delaware State. The Ocean State product accounted for the Warriors’ final nine points by going 3-for-3 on field goal attempts. Resendes, who connected on three first-half PATs, also handled the kickoff and punting duties for Merrimack. He punted six times for a 42.7 yards per boot average and dropped two kicks inside the Hornets’ 20-yard line. The graduate student averaged 62.3 yards per kickoff with one of his six kicks going for a touchback. Resendes broke a 21-21 tie by nailing a 30-yard field goal on the final snap of the first half. His 25-yarder capped Merrimack’s first possession of the third quarter. Resendes made it a two-score game on a 39-yarder that bumped the Warriors’ lead to 30-21 with 8:19 remaining in the fourth quarter.
