Persiehl provided key offensive contributions during Fairfield’s two wins last week. The sophomore defender played the role of hero in Friday’s Northeast Conference opener against crosstown rival Sacred Heart. Accounting for the lone goal of the contest, Persiehl took a pass from Julianna Kratz and pushed it past the keeper 5:38 into overtime. Two days later, the German-born Stag picked up a point in a come-from-behind road win over Patriot League member Holy Cross, which entered with a 3-0 record against NEC teams this season. With Fairfield facing a 1-0 deficit, Persiehl set up Page Lowry on the game-tying goal in the 38th minute. She also recorded two shots on goal during the eventual 3-1 triumph.
