Winchester efficiently engineered Central Connecticut’s 28-3 triumph over Nutmeg State rival Sacred Heart in the featured #NECFB Game of the Week on ESPN3. The veteran signal caller totaled 337 yards of offense during a turnover-free performance on the road. Winchester completed 76.0 percent of his pass attempts for 275 yards and one touchdown and the dual-threat quarterback gained another 62 yards on 11 rush attempts. Winchester, who did not take a sack during the road win, operated at a high level from the start. In addition to completing his first six pass attempts, he totaled 26 first-quarter rush yards. Winchester went 3-for-3 passing on CCSU’s first possession of the second half, which ended with a 10-yard scoring strike to Tyshaun James. Winchester’s 337 yards of total offense stands as the fourth-highest individual total by a NEC athlete this season.
