The field vision and elusiveness that made Rinella a Preseason All-American returner was on display throughout Saint Francis' season-opening victory at Lehigh. The senior safety, who made a critical second-half interception, totaled 136 kick return yards (110 KOR, 26 PR) in the 14-13 triumph. After Lehigh took a 13-0 lead, Rinella took the ensuing kickoff 61 yards into Lehigh territory. He returned a first-quarter punt 26 yards down to the Lehigh 33-yard line. Rinella caught a 36-yard punt in the second quarter, but was brought down immediately at the SFU 39. He also made fair catches at the SFU 23 and the SFU 15.
