The reigning NEC javelin champion needed only one day to eclipse the winning mark (46.07m) that she recorded at the 2018 conference title meet. Opening the 2019 campaign, Phelan out-classed the field at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational. The Keystone State product sent the javelin 47.22m (154’ 11”) to secure a gold medal and immediately become the Northeast Conference event leader. Phelan’s throw stands in the No. 32 spot on the early-season NCAA DI leader board while ranking 17th overall amongst East Region performers. Amongst automatic ECAC qualifiers, Phelan sits fifth.
