The reigning NEC Cross Country individual champion contested a 1500m race for the first time this outdoor season and immediately ascended to the top spot on the league leader board. Thorstein crossed the line in 3:48.38 at William & Mary’s Colonial Relays, beating the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships by more than 8.0 seconds. The second-year Seahawk made himself an instant contender for a NCAA Division I East Region Championships berth. Thorstein’s time currently stands in the No. 42 spot on the DI East Region performance list. The native Icelander also owns the fourth-fastest 800m mark on the NEC leader board.
