Phelan threw her way back into the NCAA Division I National Top 35 while striking silver at the Virginia Challenge. The Keystone State product sent the javelin on a 49.28m (161’ 8”) flight during last weekend’s visit to Charlottesville. The distance allowed Phelan to hold off Penn State’s Stephanie Sievers for second place at the meet. Phelan’s latest mark topped the previous seasonal best (48.89m) that Phelan set while winning the Jim Taylor Invitational on March 30. While the Red Flash thrower ranks 34th nationally, her most-recent effort stands 15th amongst NCAA Division I East Region leaders.
