For the second time this season, Vatakis earns dual NEC Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors after a stellar week in the circle. Vatakis made appearances in all four of the Colonials’ games, picking up a pair of wins after hurling 16 innings while only yielding two earned runs and posting a 0.88 ERA. On Wednesday, Vatakis earned the starting nod in game two of a doubleheader against Youngstown State, and she dazzled, allowing just two hits and one unearned run in seven innings to post a complete game win against a team that had won 13 out of their previous 15 games. On Saturday, the freshman pitched all five innings against the Seahawks, scattering six hits, but allowing only one run. Vatakis ranks in the top five in the league in wins (8), innings pitched (112.0), appearances (24), and complete games (10), and has allowed one earned run or less in five out of her six April appearances.
