Barnes appeared to be in mid-season form as the Mount lifted the lid off the 2018-19 indoor campaign at the Navy Winter Invitational. The sophomore sprinter, who claimed the NEC Indoor Most Outstanding Rookie honor last February, took the league lead in the 400m dash while also recording the second-fastest 60m time on the conference’s early-season performance list. The native Marylander completed the 400m dash in 58.19, which was good for fourth place at the meet. In the 60m dash, Barnes clocked in at 7.69. The time, which placed her fifth at Navy, surpassed the automatic qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships.
