WEEK 11 STATS: 213 rush yards, 31 rushes, TD rush, 6.9 ypc
Hines continued his month-long rampage against Sacred Heart, piling up more than 200 yards from scrimmage for the fourth week in a row. Moving the Dukes one win closer to the Northeast Conference crown, the junior running back rushed 31 times for 213 yards and one touchdown during a battle for first place on The Bluff. Hines, who entered Week 11 with 986 rushing yards on the season, registered his third consecutive 1,000-yard campaign on a 12-yard gain in the first quarter of Duquesne’s 28-24 victory. He victimized the Pioneers, who entered the game with an unblemished 4-0 conference record, for 6.9 yards per carry and finished with the fifth-highest individual rushing total in a NEC game this season. Hines accounted for 54 rush yards on Duquesne’s second possession of the game, ending the 88-yard scoring drive by breaking free for a 32-yard touchdown jaunt that bumped the home team’s lead to 14-0. After Sacred Heart cut the Dukes’ advantage to 21-14 on the opening drive of the second half, Hines quickly helped push the lead back into double digits. Toting the rock on the first three plays of the possession, Hines gained 53 yards to give the Dukes a 1st-and-Goal at the 10-yard line. Hines recorded 11 first downs in the win, none bigger than his three-yard burst on a third-down conversion that allowed the Dukes to run out the remainder of the clock in victory formation.
