Duke set the NEC single-game season high for total offense while accounting for four touchdowns in a road win over Nutmeg State rival Central Connecticut. Sacred Heart’s veteran signal caller victimized the defending NEC champions to the tune of 413 yards. He finished 21-of-28 passing for 374 yards and three touchdowns. Duke also netted 39 yards on the ground, including a three-yard third-quarter scoring scamper. With SHU facing a 17-7 deficit, Duke engineered an eight-play, 75-yard touchdown drive on the opening possession of the second half. After a 53-yard hookup with Kezio Snelling moved the ball into CCSU territory, Duke cashed in with seven-yard scoring pass to Ed Cuddahy on a 3rd-and-2 play. He brought the Pioneers back to the end zone late in the third quarter. After passing for 55 yards on the drive, Duke ran it in from three yards out to five SHU a 21-17 lead. Extending the advantage to 28-17, Duke passed for 76 yards on a 77-yard drive that ended on a 21-yard touchdown reception by Andrew O’Neill. It was the second Duke-to-O’Neill touchdown of the game.
