Gallagher’s first collegiate complete game came in the form of a two-hit shutout against Fairleigh Dickinson in the second half of Saturday’s double dip at Richmond County Ballpark. The 5-foot-10 freshman limited FDU to two hits and three walks over 7.0 scoreless frames. He fanned six batters in the 4-0 triumph. Gallagher issued a walk to the game’s leadoff batter, but proceeded to retire the next seven batters in a row. He registered three consecutive strikeouts until issuing back-to-back one-out walks in the third inning. With two runners on, the rookie induced two straight flyouts to extinguish the threat. His no-hit bid ended when Mike Veit doubled to lead off the fourth frame. Gallagher responded by recording three outs in a row to strand Veit at third base. He allowed only one more hit – an one-out infield single in the sixth – the rest of the way. Gallagher pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to complete the shutout victory.
