Chavis out-classed the hammer throw field at the Messiah Invitational. The senior upped his conference-leading mark while setting the Mount St. Mary’s program record in the process. Chavis sent the hammer 57.37m (188’ 3”) to win the competition. The mark is nearly 5.00m better than the automatic qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships and it currently ranks 19th on the list of qualifiers. The fourth-year Mountaineer owns the No. 59 ranking in the NCAA East Region.
