Capra put on a power display during Wagner’s three-game sweep of Big East member Villanova. The Seahawks’ veteran catcher, who recorded three three-hit performances, slugged 1.400 while driving in 10 runs. Over the trio of road games, Capra batted .600 (9-for-15) with three home runs, three doubles, one HBP, one stolen base, 10 RBI and five runs scored. Capra’s final hit of the series broke a 5-5 tie in the ninth inning of Game 3 and allowed the Seahawks to complete the sweep. The catcher, who connected a two-run single in the third inning followed by an one-out double in the fifth, stepped to the plate with one runner on and two outs in the top of the ninth and delivered a double to left-centerfield. Capra went bonkers in the middle game of the series, homering three times to power Wagner’s 7-2 victory. He opened the Game 2 scoring by blasting a two-run bomb to right field in the third inning. One frame later, Capra belted another two-run shot to up Wagner’s lead to 6-0. He added an exclamation point by leading off the ninth inning by sending a 2-1 pitch over the right-field fence. Helping Wagner jump out to a 5-2 lead in the series opener, Capra laced a two-run double in the fourth frame. He also singled in the first and sixth innings of the eventual 8-7 triumph. Capra paces the circuit in home runs (12) and RBI (49) this season.
