Perez, a two-time top-20 finisher at the NEC Championships, fired a career-best score of 70 to win the rain-shortened Hartford Invitational by three strokes on Saturday. The Zaragoza, Spain native finished 2-under at the par-72 Tumble Brook Country Club course to best afield of 63 and help the Pioneers to a second place finish, just one stroke behind FDU. Perez joined teammate Chelsea Sedlar - who finished tied for second at the event - as SHU honorees this season. The Pioneers will look to repeat as NEC champion this weekend at the LPGA International Hills Course in Florida.
