Heger put up solid numbers in between the pipes to lead the #19-ranked Colonials to a pair of non-conference wins over Canisius and Cleveland State last week. The junior netminder stopped 27 shots over the two outings for a .692 save percentage to garner his third NEC defensive accolade of the season. He made six of his 11 stops in the second half to help RMU close out an 11-9 victory against Canisius on Tuesday. Heger then responded with a 16-save performance in which he only allowed three goals in the 14-5 win over with the Vikings on Saturday. His .842 save percentage vs. CSU was the second-highest of his career. Heger, who was named to Tewaaraton Award Watch List last week, now has 20 career wins and needs one more victory to break the RMU single-season record. The Carmel, IN native ranks among the top-6 nationally in saves per game (12.00), goals against average (7.85) and save percentage (.608) heading into play this week.
