The 2018 NEC Indoor Most Outstanding Rookie performer opened his first collegiate outdoor season by snagging the conference lead in two throwing events. Surpassing the IC4A Championships qualifying standard in both events, Fasano won a gold medal in the shot put and picked up a bronze medal in the discus while contesting Bryant’s Black & Gold Invitational at home in Smithfield. Fasano put the shot 15.83m (51’ 11.25”) to win the competition and set the school record in the process. His 47.51m (155’ 10”) discus mark placed him third at the meet and made him the early-season NEC leader by nearly 5.0 meters.
