Morgese took the ball for Sunday’s finale and prevented a sweep. After Bryant dropped the first two games of its series at NEC rival Wagner, the sophomore southpaw spun 7.0 innings of one-run ball to spearhead a 3-1 victory. Morgese limited Wagner to four hits and two walks. He struck out six batters. After Wagner scored its lone run on a two-out single in the third inning, Morgese did not permit another base hit the rest of the way. He retired six of the last seven men he faced, working around a two-out walk in the seventh.
