He managed only one walk in the first half of Saturday’s doubleheader, but quickly rebounded from the 0-fer performance by recording two hits in the nightcap. Batting leadoff and playing second base, Ward went 2-for-3 with one walk and one RBI in the 5-2 win that guaranteed Bryant at least a split of the four-game series. Ward saved his best day for the series finale, going 4-for-5 at the plate and scoring three runs in the 6-5 triumph on Sunday. His RBI triple broke a 3-3 tie in the fourth inning. Then, after leading off the ninth inning with a single, Ward eventually came around to score the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
