Filling a void left by injured shortstop Jimmy Titus, Owens made noteworthy contributions to Bryant’s lineup for the second week in a row. In three games at SEC member Auburn, the first-year Bulldog accounted for a .500 on-base percentage and remained perfect in the field. After going 0-for-2 in the series opener, Owens connected on three hits and scored twice in Game 2. With Bryant facing a 4-0 deficit, the freshman infielder led off the third inning with a single and scored on Nick Angelini’s two-run homer two batters later. In the fourth frame, Owens smacked a run-scoring double to right-centerfield. He later came around to score on a two-out single, tying the game at 4-4. After his 3-for-4 performance in the first half of Saturday’s double dip, Owens went 1-for-3 in the series finale.
