Owens opened his collegiate career at Pac 12 member Arizona and has a pair of hits to show for it. Earning his first start in Sunday’s series finale, the rookie shortstop went 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI. Owens was responsible for plating the Bulldogs’ lone run of the game, connecting on a third-inning single that cut Arizona’s lead to 3-1. With one out in the fifth frame, the 5-foot-11 freshman roped a double to left field for his first career extra-base knock. Owens saw his first collegiate action late in Game 2 of the three-game set in Tucson. He came on to pinch run for Jimmy Titus in the top half of the eighth inning and stayed on to play shortstop in the bottom half of the frame. He was perfect in the field during his two appearances.
