Barnes’ first sprint double in the month of February resulted in two league-leading times. The first-year Mountaineer raced to a gold medal in the 200m final at the University of Akron Invitational, crossing the line in 24.73. In addition to cutting 0.20 second off her NEC-leading 200m time, Barnes became the first NEC sprinter to automatically qualify for the ECAC Championships at the 60m distance. The native Marylander clocked in at 7.71s during the preliminary round at Akron. The 60m time is a career best for Barnes and it ranks third in Mount’s program history.
