Chavis upped his conference-leading weight throw mark for the second week in a row. Contesting the Gold Division at the University of Akron’s College Invitational, the fourth-year Mountaineer threw the 32-pound implement 17.16m (56’ 3.5”). Chavis, the lone NEC thrower to break the 17.00m barrier this season, owns a 82-centimeter lead over his closest conference competitor - Wagner’s Lutfi Pocesta. Chavis, who has only competed thrice thus far this season, holds the No. 35 spot on the list of IC4A Championships qualifiers. He won the 2017 NEC Indoor title with an 18.26m throw.
