Whitaker's day at Robert Morris featured seven tackles (six solo) and two impactful interceptions, the second of which resulted in the game-winning touchdown with under 1:00 remaining in regulation. With Robert Morris looking to break a 14-14 tie in the final minute of regulation, Whitaker picked off an errant pass and ran 46 yards to paydirt. His game-winning play snapped the Pioneers’ four-game slide and evened their league record at 1-1. Whitaker’s first interception came during Robert Morris’ first possession of the third quarter. Threatening to add to their 6-0 lead, the Colonials faced a 1st-and-10 from the SHU 43 when Whitaker corralled a pass intended for RMU’s Tavin Allison at the 34-yard line. He made two huge hits in run defense, one of which earned SHU possession of the ball. With RMU holding a 3-0 lead and attempting a 4th-and-1 from the SHU 41, Whitaker burst into the backfield and dropped the ball carrier for a one-yard loss and a turnover on downs midway through the second quarter.
