STAT LINE: 11 total tackles (10 solo), 4.0 TFL, 2.0 sacks, FF, PBU, QBH
Costigan played like a man possessed from the start of Bryant’s NEC road game on Grymes Hill. The junior linebacker totaled 11 tackles, including 4.0 TFL, during a 31-16 victory. Nine of his 11 stops limited the offense to a three-yard gain or less. Costigan, who logged 2.0 sacks, was also credited with a forced fumble, pass break-up and quarterback hurry. He struck early and often, putting an end to Wagner’s opening possession with a third-down strip sack that gave Bryant the ball at the Seahawks’ 37-yard line. On Wagner’s second possession, Costigan dropped Ryan Fulse for a three-yard loss on a 2nd-and-3 play. He helped keep Wagner out of the end zone during the first half, stopping Fulse in the backfield on a 2nd-and-10 play from Bryant’s 12-yard line with under 1:00 remaining on the second-quarter clock. With Wagner on the move and facing a third down from Bryant’s 49-yard line, Costigan delivered another quarterback sack to derail the Seahawks’ opening drive of the second half.
