Theetge blanked Central Connecticut to win his fourth consecutive NEC start, accounting for his best outing yet. Going the distance for the first time this season, the sophomore southpaw allowed only four hits (all singles) and two walks over 7.0 scoreless innings. He struck out three batters. After maneuvering around a couple of speed bumps in the second and third innings, Theetge was sensational over the game’s final 4.0 frames. He escaped a bases-loaded jam in the second by inducing a flyout from Dean Lockery. After surrendering back-to-back, two-out singles in the third, he fanned Chris Kanios to end the threat. Theetge retired 13 of the final 14 batters he faced with the lone outlier reaching on an error. He needed 108 pitches to complete the 7-0 victory in the first half of Saturday’s double header.
