Tombs, a two-time All-NEC honoree, claimed his second individual title of the year at the Rhode Island Invitational. The senior finished first in a 14-team field and helped the Bulldogs to a second-place finish. At one under, Tombs was the only golfer to finish below par with rounds of 72, 72 and 71 to win by one stroke. He followed with an 11th-place finish at the VGA/UConn Collegiate Invitational, where he carded a 219 over three rounds. He shot a four-under 68 in the second round, the low round of the tournament. Over the season, Tombs has posted a team-best 72.8 stroke average. This is Tombs' third NEC award of the 2016-17 campaign, as the senior earned the NEC Golfer of the Month award twice in the fall.
