Hannon is the third FDU player to capture the NEC Bowler of the Week award this season. The senior right-hander spearheaded Fairleigh Dickinson’s winning weekend at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Classic, averaging a team-high 21.46 pins per frame over the course of the three-day meet. Converting 54.9 percent of her chances, Hannon threw a team-high 95 strikes as FDU faced a number of the nation’s top-10 teams. Hannon, who left only 12 opens all weekend, converted 93.2 percent of her non-split spare attempts en-route to a .908 overall filled frames percentage. The Western New Yorker was sensational during the traditional team play portion of the event, accounting for a 227.6 game average to earn a spot on the Warhawk Classic All-Tournament Team. Hannon rolled a 268 game in a convincing victory over No. 5 McKendree before producing a 221-pin effort in a win over No. 21 Valparaiso. The fourth-year Knight exceeded the 220-pin mark for the fourth time in five games when she registered a 235 in a setback to No. 4 Vanderbilt. During baker competition, Hannon averaged a team-best 20.65 pins per frame. Hannon, who accounted for a team-high 2,790 total pinfall, earned praise from FDU head coach Michael Lopresti. Following the tournament, Lopresti said simply, “Melanie Hannon stepped up this weekend. She clearly exhibited why she is a three-time All-American.”
