Thorne’s outdoor collegiate debut resulted in a gold medal and a first place standing on the Northeast Conference leader board. The first-year Pioneer topped a 64-person field by completing the 1500m run in 4:36.52. Although she came up just shy of the ECAC Championships qualifying standard, Thorne left a number of well-accomplished veterans in her wake. The SHU freshman ranks ahead of teammate Tara Connelly (defending NEC steeple chase champion) and Bryant’s Melissa Lodge (NEC Indoor mile champion) by more than five seconds.
