En-route to claiming the award that fellow Mountie Kelly Yanucil held last week, Hinton leapt out to a large lead in the NEC long jump standings. The Garden State product struck gold at the George Mason Spring Invitational. Needing to surpass 6.08m on her final attempt to win the competition, Hinton long jumped 6.09m to become Mount St. Mary’s program record holder. Hinton, who eclipsed the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships on each of her last four attempts at George Mason, tops NEC leaders by more than two feet. Her latest mark, which broke a 24-year old Mount record that Annette Fitz set in 1993, catapulted her into the NCAA Division I East Region Top 25.
