WEEK 7 STATS: 1 start, 1-0, 2.70 ERA, 6.2 IP, 2 R, 6 H, 5 K, 1 BB
Morgese slammed the brakes on Bryant’s losing streak while securing his first collegiate victory. Earning the start for a mid-week affair against Ocean State rival Brown, the freshman lefty twirled 6.2 innings of two-run ball in what wound up as the longest outing by a Bulldog pitcher thus far this season. Morgese fanned five batters and walked only one during the 7-2 road victory in Providence. Brown tagged him for two runs in the second, but he settled in nicely on the way to totaling 111 pitches. Following the Bears’ two-run inning, Morgese allowed only two hits, including a bunt single, the rest of the way. After surrendering a two-out double in the fourth inning, the rookie southpaw retired the next 10 batters in order before a two-out walk in the seventh ended his day.
