Boughton saw her first collegiate action during Sacred Heart’s Bowl for the Cure event on October 22 and provided plenty of reason for optimism. Inserted into the lineup for the Pioneers’ fourth match at the single-day competition, the rookie right-hander proceeded to fill 95 percent of frames bowled. She started her collegiate career with a strike then filled the next nine frames (8 spares, 1 strike) for a clean 187-pin performance in the team’s victory over Caldwell. Boughton started the subsequent match against Molloy, too, and was even more impressive. After suffering from a split in her first frame, she filled the final nine frames of the match and wound up with a 221 game in SHU’s 1,003-911 win. Boughton, a Garden State product, made all of her spare attempts and posted a .318 strike percentage during her two starts. She filled 19 of 20 frames bowled.
