NEC Player of the Month
In winning his second NEC Player of the Month honor, Kuhar excelled for the Bulldogs against top-flight competition to open up the spring slate. He posted a 3-2 singles record at the #1 flight and had a number of other matches halted prior to completion. Kuhar, who was the 2014-15 NEC Rookie of the Year before sitting out last season with an injury, knocked off Binghamton’s Ludovico Cestarollo (7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 7-6 (7-6)) - the 2015-16 MAC Rookie of the Year - to open the season back in January. He went on to beat Harvard’s Andy Zhou (6-4, 6-7 (5-10), 1-0 (10-4), who led the Crimson in wins a year ago, and NJIT’s Lukas Zvikas (6-3, 6-3). He also took 2015-16 Big East Player of the Year Roberto Livi (6-7, 6-3, 2-3) into a third set and was leading Indiana’s Antonio Cembellin (6-4, 3-1) when the match was stopped. Kuhar also went three sets in his two losses against opponents from Brown and Dartmouth. The Smithfield, RI native improved to 10-5 in singles play on the year.
