Simpson broke the 14.00m barrier in her final shot put competition prior to the NEC Indoor Championships. Setting a personal record, the Jamaican-born thrower put the shot 14.07m (46’ 2”) to win a bronze medal at the National Fastrack Invitational in Staten Island, NY. The mark ranks Simpson second overall on the NEC leader board and allowed her to crack to the Top 20 on the list of ECAC Championships qualifiers. Simpson also produced a seasonal best in the weight throw at the National Fastrack Invitational, moving into sixth place on the NEC performance list in that event.
