Stones increased her NEC lead in the weight throw by becoming the league’s first athlete to exceed the 17.00m mark this season. While contesting Lehigh’s John Covert Classic, Stones’ first fling went for 17.56m and the mark held up for a first-place finish amongst collegiate competitors. The performance allowed the veteran to crack the Top 20 on the list of qualifiers for the ECAC Championships in March. Although Stones came up well short of her league-leading seasonal best, she also secured a third-place finish in the shot put at the John Covert Classic.
