Guerrera contested an 800m race for the first time this season and catapulted himself into the NCAA Division I Top 15 in the process. Crushing the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships in March, the third-year Pioneer crossed the line in 1:48.75 at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational. The performance, which was good enough for third place out of 123 entries at the meet, was more than 2.0 seconds better than Guerrera’s previous indoor personal best. Moving into the No. 13 spot on the Division I national leader board, the Empire State product missed breaking Patrick Peterson’s indoor school record (2013) by a mere .06 second.
