One week after her fast early-season mile, Thorne used a strong performance in the 1000m run to retain the NEC Women's Rookie of the Week award. The first-year Pioneer crossed the line in 2:56.36 to strike gold at the 35th Yale Collegiate Invitational. Topping a 19-entrant field that featured CCSU’s Brittany Mendelson and Bryant’s Melissa Lodge, two accomplished NEC distance runners, Thorne posted the second-fastest 1000m time in Sacred Heart's program history.
