Chavious’ two first-quarter touchdown runs provided Sacred Heart with a lead it never relinquished en-route to a road win over Ivy League member Cornell. Leading all players in all-purpose yardage (178), the senior running back carried 24 times for 160 yards and added 18 yards on a kick return. Registering his second 100-yard rushing effort of the season, Chavious became the first SHU player since 2014 to run for more than 150 yards in a game. Averaging 6.7 yards per attempt, the Empire State product rushed for eight first downs during the 31-24 triumph. One play after Jordan Meachum’s 76-yard kickoff return, Chavious ripped off a 22-yard scamper that allowed the Pioneers to even the score at 7-7 with 6:22 left in the opening quarter. His next carry, which came fewer than 4:00 later, resulted in a 13-yard touchdown run that put SHU in the lead for good.
