WEEK 12 STATS: 140 yards from scrimmage, 23 carries, 110 rush yards, 2 rush TD, 1 reception, 30 receiving yards
Hines hasn’t slowed down one bit during what has been a remarkable rookie campaign. Exceeding the 100-yard rushing mark for the seventh time in his last nine games, the first-year Duke totaled 140 yards from scrimmage in a 52-19 triumph at Central Connecticut. Hines, the NEC’s rushing leader (1,291 yards), carried 23 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season finale. He made a reception for the fourth straight game, catching one pass for 30 yards during a seven-play third-quarter touchdown drive. Allowing the Dukes to cash in on prime field position, Hines’ one-yard touchdown plunge capped a four-play, 20-yard drive that gave Duquesne a 21-3 advantage with 4:16 left in the opening quarter. The bruising back found the end zone for a second time on a 5-yard run 4:50 into the fourth quarter. He has won the NEC Rookie of the Week award an unprecedented 10 times this season.
