WEEK 11 STATS: 8 punts, 355 yards, 44.4 punting avg., 56 Long
Zecca masterfully handled the punting duties during the Red Flash’s historic victory. Helping SFU win the field position battle in a 31-21 win that secured the program’s first-ever NEC crown, the sophomore punted eight times for a 44.4 average with a long of 56. None of the eight punts were returned for a gain of any kind. Zecca dropped one inside of the opponent’s 20-yard line, booting a 49-yarder that went out of bounds at the CCSU 3 with 5:48 remaining. The 56-yarder flipped the field in earlier the fourth quarter, moving the line of scrimmage to CCSU’ 29-yard line. Zecca gave the coverage unit plenty of time to race down the field and recover a pair of muffed kicks. The Blue Devils failed to cleanly corral a 36-yard second-quarter punt and a 47-yard kick in the third quarter. The two miscues led to two SFU touchdowns.
