WEEK 10 STATS: 8 total tackles (3 solo), 1 INT, 1 RET TD, 2 PBU
Hinton scored his second touchdown of the season and made numerous impactful plays to help Central Connecticut secure its first conference victory. The sophomore safety, who opened the game’s scoring by returning an interception for a touchdown, recorded eight tackles and three passes defended in a 37-35 triumph over rival Sacred Heart. On CCSU’s first defensive series of the game, Hinton stepped in front of a pass at the SHU 11-yard line and ran it into the end zone for an early Blue Devils’ lead. With CCSU protecting a 10-7 edge early in the second quarter, Hinton helped force a three-and-out for the SHU offense by breaking up a first-down pass. Later in the quarter, the second-year Blue Devil stopped a Pioneer receiver short of the sticks on a 3rd-and-12 play. Hinton helped spur another SHU three-and-out when he limited receiver Moses Webb to a 5-yard gain on a second-down rush. The Garden State product ensured the two-point victory by batting down RJ Noel’s pass to the end zone on the game’s final snap.
