Fields’ career day helped propel Central Connecticut to its first NEC win of the season, a 37-35 decision over rival Sacred Heart. En-route to compiling 225 all-purpose yards, the junior wide receiver set single-game career highs for receptions (8) and receiving yards (122) in the home victory. Five of his eight catches resulted in either a first down or touchdown. Fields, who logged an 11-yard reception on the game’s first play, made his fourth touchdown grab of the season during the final minute of the third quarter. The Jersey Shore product broke free over the middle and pulled in a 37-yard scoring strike that gave CCSU a 31-21 lead with 15:22 remaining. Earlier, Fields converted a 2nd-and-10 with a 24-yard reception that moved the chains on CCSU’s second touchdown drive. His 8-yard catch on a 3rd-and-5 gave CCSU a new set of downs early in the fourth quarter. Fields also produced 103 kick return yards on three runbacks to help the Blue Devils win the field position battle. Fields caught a 37-yard touchdown in the third quarter to push the Blue Devil lead to 31-21 late in the quarter. All three led to CCSU scores, including the game-winner.
